Today, January 13, Archbishop Alexander K. Sample of Portland in Oregon strongly urged the priests of the archdiocese to join him in taking up a devotional prayer called, "The Surrender Novena," or "The Novena of Surrender to the Will of God."
I had heard of this prayer but hadn't looked it up to learn about it and to consider starting to pray it. Now, with the combined inspiration of Archbishop Sample's testimony about the great fruit it has borne in his life and of his heartfelt call for us to pray it as well, I've begun to pray it today. And I will start learning more about it, too. I invite all readers of this blog to consider and discern whether it might be for you as well. I will post each day's message on my blog. The Surrender Novena Day 1
Hear Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ say to you, "Why do you confuse yourselves by worrying? Leave the care of your affairs to me and everything will be peaceful. I say to you in truth that every act of true, blind, complete surrender to me produces the effect that you desire and resolves all difficult situations."
Then pray the following:
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything! (10 times)
