Greetings to all parishioners,
To give us all a chance to better appreciate our significance and purpose in life, St. Wenceslaus is joining an archdiocese-wide Lenten initiative: Viewing an award-winning series called “The Search.” It tackles core questions of life, examining the many options you have and the many signposts that point you to life-enriching answers.
“The Search” examines the desire for a meaningful life and proclaims the way to experience a life like that. To get in on this opportunity, first sign in to the Catholic media site called FORMED, at https://formed.org/signup. Then find our parish by name or Zip Code (97056). The site will lead you through setting up your free, parish-sponsored FORMED subscription. If you’ve had one of these subscriptions before, you might find that it’s already active again if you use the same email address. (With a subscription, you can also use the FORMED app on mobile devices and connected devices such as Roku, Apple TV, and Chromecast.)
Next, locate the first episode of “The Search” (It has seven episodes.) and watch it this week. It is approximately 20 minutes. We encourage you to take notes during the video and share what you learned with family or friends.
You will also be able to join other parishioners and discuss what you heard and saw in each episode. Dan and Angie Rocha will facilitate a Zoom discussion on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm each of the seven weeks. If you are interested in joining these meetings you’ll need to email Dan at dan@danrochadesign.com, giving him your name and email address. Note especially that if you want to join the first Zoom meeting, you’ll need to get an email to Dan by midday Tuesday, Feb. 23; he’ll send you the link to join in. After that, you can still sign up to start your participation with the second session. Dan will send Zoom invites each week.
The parish has a book version of “The Search” for households or individuals who will not be using the internet, computer or mobile devices. If you fit this description, you may pick up a copy in the back of the church if you come to Mass. Otherwise, contact Pastoral Council member Diane Erhardt (see below), and we’ll figure out a way to get your copy to you. Our hope for those reading the book is that you’ll seek out a friend or two who may also have it, so you can share your insights and reactions. Other parishioners, please respect the fact that we are initially reserving these books for those who won’t have access to the videos.
Let us proceed in unison in search of God our actions, prayers, and sacrifices during this time in preparation for the Holy Week and Easter Sunday.
Direct your questions to Diane Erhardt at 541-720-8231.
Lenten Blessings to all from,
Fr. Chuck, Diane, and the entire Pastoral Council
